An inviting mix of rural and suburban lifestyles - 3/18/2018
Known as “the Gateway to the Delta”, Rio Vista is located in the heart of the California Delta on the Sacramento River. The views along the wide river bring to mind the tales of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer. The City is surrounded by over 1000 miles of waterway. It is the ideal location for fishing, water skiing and wind surfing as well as a being a thriving community for residential, farming and business activities. Rio Vista has an inviting mix of rural and suburban lifestyles and easy access to all of the urban amenities associated with two of the nation’s most dynamic metropolitan regions, San Francisco and Sacramento. Rio Vista is within an easy drive to the Napa Wine Country, Sierra ski resorts and Lake Tahoe.

What you can and can not find in Rio Vista - 4/3/2011
There is plenty to be had in Rio Vista, particularly if you like dead animal heads on a bar wall (Fosters Big Horn) and a state of the art fish cleaning station located near city hall and the boat launch.

Neither of those accoutrements speaks to me. It becomes necessary to leave town for nearly everything I do and every job I currently hold. I am a tap dancer and I have pursued dance classes in different towns (Rio Vista offers no dance classes) while I also teach dance out of town (there's a reason for why I don't teach in town -- but that's another story). I spend quite a bit on gas and the bridge toll fees required of me as I commute to pursue jobs and recreation not afforded me in Rio Vista. But that's not a complaint, rather it's the trade-off I make for being where the opportunities are.
